PSR J1709-4429's Proper Motion and Its Relationship to SNR G343.1–2.3

We have obtained a deep (670 ks) CXO ACIS image of the remarkable pulsar wind nebula (PWN) PSR J1709?4429, in four epochs during 2018–2019. Comparison with an archival 2004 data set provides proper motion ? = 13 ± 3 mas yr?1 at PA 86° 9° (1? combined statistical and systematic uncertainties), precluding birth near center SNR G343.1?2.3. At pulsar's characteristic age 17 kyr, association can be preserved through combination progenitor wind, kick, PWN outflow. Associated TeV emission may, however, indicate explosion earlier supernova. Inter-epoch comparison X-ray images shows that is dynamic, but we are unable to conclusively measure flow speeds from blob motion. The has generated radio/X-ray bubble, argue PWN's long narrow jets swept back by shocked venting this cavity. These may trace polar magnetic field lines flow, interesting challenge for numerical modeling.
